Your documents are not uploaded

This is the part that matters most and it is a property of how the tool is built rather than a promise about how we behave. The responses you put into the scoring tool are opened, read and scored by code running in your own browser tab. A .docx is unzipped there. The comparison between answers happens there. The dates are read there. At no point is a document, a paragraph, a heading or a file name sent to us.

What we store when you run a score

When a score finishes, your browser sends us a summary of it and we store that. The summary is: how many documents you scored and how many words each held, how many answer blocks were found, how many were flagged by each signal, how many exact repeats and undated claims there were, the oldest and newest years found anywhere in the text, and for the worst three findings their similarity percentage and age in years. It also carries short one-way hashes of each document and of the flagged blocks, which we use only to tell two uploads apart and to recognise our own seeded sample. A hash cannot be turned back into the text it came from.

We also store the time and the reference code carried in the link, if you arrived from a message we sent you.

You do not have to take any of this on trust. The results panel has a control that prints the exact object that was sent, and it is the same object described above.

We store it because this page is a market test, and the only honest way to know whether anyone used the tool is to count the runs.

What we do not store

• No document text, no answer text, no heading, no excerpt and no file name.
• No account, because there is no signup.
• No IP address and no device fingerprint.
• No advertising or analytics cookie. This site sets no cookies at all.
• No email address, unless you type one into the form at the bottom of the page yourself.

Measurement

We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you. We do not run Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, a session recorder or any advertising pixel on this site.

The waitlist

If you submit the form, we store your email address, the company and note you chose to give, and whether you asked for a call. It is used to write to you about this project and for nothing else. It is never sold, and it is not added to any other list.

Where it lives and for how long

Records are stored in a MongoDB Atlas database and the site runs on Vercel. Both are processors acting on our instructions. Score summaries are kept for as long as this validation test and its write-up need them, and no longer than twelve months.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access, correction, deletion, or a copy of anything we hold about you. Write to dario@leanaistudio.com and a person will answer. For a score summary, tell us roughly when you ran it, since there is no account and no name attached to look you up by. You may also complain to the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
